Visual Fault Locators.
These units inject a visible red light into single and multimode fibres. They are useful in proving fibre continuity for patchcords and will still be visible for up to 4 or 5km of singlemode fibres or 2 to 3km. for multimode. Any sharp bend or kink in a fibre will cause light to escape through the coatings, indicating its position. We supply a 1mW eye safe unit but of course direct eye exposure should be avoided as with any light source. An FC-PC or universal connector is supplied as standard, others on request including 1.25mm LC types. |
